While summer often brings to mind hot dogs, water slides and popsicles, for the entrepreneur (especially an entrepreneur during our current recession) the summer is filled with hard work, marketing, brainstorming and executing…no matter how nice the weather is outside.

Over the summer on yangwang.info, you will find a BBQ Of Business: Exclusive interviews to jump start your business, how-to articles and resources to get your entrepreneurial dream out of your head and into action. Make sure to stay tuned daily to the Rise Underground Blog, Rise at Nite and our new main page on yangwang.info for the latest updates.

And as important as it is to immerse yourself in work over the summer, make sure to take some time for yourself and come on out to Summer Business Break on July 11th. For $100 you will be treated upscale food and drinks, a gift bag, wine tasting, meet and greet with professional tennis star Anna Kournikova and special box seats to a high-energy not-your-grandfather’s tennis match. Spots are VERY limited so don’t delay to grab your ticket as once they are gone, no others will become available: https://secure.eventticketingsystems.com/venues/dwight_davis_tennis_centers_and_sports_park/

Don’t miss THE event for entrepreneurs this summer!

  • And now my turn to come out from under the rock. Sorry it’s been awhile. He is very well spoken. I enjoyed how he discussed the skill variance between the hunter and the “sales rep”. It seems as though he has distinguished his competitive advantage by making his approach more permissive as apposed to the old school approach of cold calling that really interrupted the client. David would you happen to know what his conversion rate is?

Corey, this is Jason (the guy in the video :). Our response rate is typically above 50%, because of the variable marketing touches we use as described in the video. Our conversion rate for qualified leads is over 10%. I hope that answers your question. Thanks!

      • Jason thanks for the feedback. That’s pretty decent considering I was reading an article the other day saying that conversion rates for cold calling were around 1%. And using social media as a biz dev tool had a conversation rate of close to 20%. If I can dig up the article I will post it. It was a good read.

Corey – I missed you so!

  • Aaron Corson

It’s nice to see you acknowledge that direct mail and other traditional marketing methods are still effective if executed properly. Many internet and social media focused marketers seem to have a stigma about traditional methods being inferior.

What Jason said about direct mail being effective for lead generation if it’s ‘personal and relevant’ is dead on, but to take it a step further, the MOST effective lead generation campaigns are the ones that integrate BOTH traditional AND digital marketing methods. In today’s marketing landscape, driving people to respond to direct mail ONLINE is crucial because over 25% of direct mail recipients WILL ONLY respond online.

Thanks for continuing to provide great content that isn’t limited to just social media topics!

Aaron – Very interesting thanks for sharing. Sounds like a smart way to blend. What is interesting is as some of the “old school” methods become less common, they can become more effective with a little creativity.

    Well done Jason!
