  • Thanks David for this great interview. I’m going to do a shameless plug, but ONLY, because it’s directly relevant to this post. We are now running our first promo at – it’s a promo for a $3,500USD cruise in Puerto Vallarta The business is a daily deals for tourists in Mexico at . We did it using Wildfireapp – and our conversion on Facebook is unreal, like 68%. We’ve been running the promo for about 2 mos, and we’re at 2,500 people signed up. Interestingly though, our facebook page only has 500 fans, not sure why we can’t get the people to also like us, but that would really help. I create the same exact promo through – it’s a facebook app and I have like 15 people signed up. I don’t understand why the wildfireapp converts so much better. So now – we have almost 30 people signing up a day, without us having to do anything. This is exactly the type of Interview that I can really learn a lot from. I’m thrilled to hear that Diamond is doing so well, I’ve liked them myself, just to learn.

I think the bottom line is that we are planning to run constant promos, but the next one will have to come down in price, because it’s a lot of money for us.Thanks for the great info.Geordie

I think with wildfire part of their ‘secret sauce’ is that they have a public directory of contests that people who like to enter contests all the time will literally just go through and enter every single contest there (these hobbyists are commonly call themselves ‘sweepers’. That market is primarily going to be female 25-40 in our experience so if the target market for your service or product over laps that then that is going to be valuable for you just from that perspective. I would also recommend searching out contest and sweepstakes listing sites and getting your sweepstakes listed. That can bring a lot of additional sign ups for your list.

      • Brillant, Thanks Justin. I believe you’re right. Our opt-in list is now a decent size from this promo, but it seems like the leads are a bit low quality as our conversions are low from emailings. I think one way to bring the people from the promo to our facebook is to make it a requirement on our contest that they also be a facebook fan. Hey – it’s our contest, we can make the rules, right? That should help to bring people over. I’d be interested to hear what other promo apps you like. I really liked the easypromo app, was really easy to set up, but am just not happy with the amount of people we’ve been able to get to sign up using it.  Thanks again, I’m a fan of Diamond Candles. Love hearing success stories, and look forward to following your progress.

G – Looks like Justin hopped in there and answered the question 🙂 Hey not so much a shameless plug as it was a legit problem…and a shameless plug lol.

      • Thanks – You know what the best thing about this show was? I had it open in the background, and could listen to it while multi-tasking, so I could learn the great tips from Justin, while also doing my work, which previously limited my ability to listen to your shows. I’m going to try more often, so I can check out more of the show. Everyone needs to try this one out…

So you see? I gave you a little plug too. It’s all good my man… BTW: My vote for halloween is Million $$ Man.

  • Mikky

    Hi David,

I loved this interview. I really, really hope you do more like this – with bloggers or peeps who have online stores selling stuff (ie. not info products or coaching services), it is fantastic to see behind the scenes. If you could do one of these a  week or every two weeks throw one in that would be awesome.

    • David Siteman Garland

Mikky – I’ll definitely keep that in mind and will continue to throw ’em in every now and then 🙂

  • Mikky

Like the great new photo of you on your site!
