Just a few years ago, Pat Flynn was pretty much unknown. Well, I mean, not literally unknown (he has a wife and kids and a family). But we are talking “Internet unknown”.

He started his mediapreneur site, , and started creating awesome content. Amazing transparent blog posts. Then he started doing some really cool videos. Then he added a podcast.

Fast forward to now, and besides getting a major wardrobe upgrade (Pat is looking dapper!), his popularity and business have FREAKIN’ SKYROCKETED! 60,000+ subscribers. Zillions of page views. Keynoting conferences. Unique book deal. A top podcast on iTunes. The list goes on.

Seriously, a day doesn’t go by when someone doesn’t say to me, “Well, Pat Flynn said…”

So, how did he do it? Pat spills the beans in today’s interview, where I grill him about his “Be Everywhere” strategy. Listen and learn below. And make sure to give a shout out as to what you learned in the comments section.

GoToMeetingA few weeks ago we made a big decision at The Rise To The Top to move to a really cool software/business program for all our emails, customer management, etc. called Office Auto Pilot. A big migration like this can be a huge pain in the butt, but I was able to meet with the OAP team with the greatest of ease thanks to GoToMeeting. They showed me exactly how the software worked, how we could use it, etc. by sharing with me video, their screens, and more all on GoToMeeting. GoToMeeting is super essential for any mediapreneur. • I love how Pat told us where the majority of his traffic and audience came from. It really shows us that we really need to diversify and can’t rely on the web traffic only. Thanks again for another great episode, David!

    • David Siteman Garland

Always great to hear REAL examples, eh?

  • Another great show David . I found both of your blogs from youtube. I always like when people have different mediums for people to consume information with video, podcasts and blogs. Pat is a really clever man and really knows how to connect with his audience with just using his channels to get message across. It drives me crazy the way he tell us how he got to where he is now. As he makes it sound so easy.

    • David Siteman Garland

      Absolutely, glad you enjoyed D

  • OMG the subscriber-traffic-fan-ferry. LOL!!! Awesome visual. This is my first time listening/watching your stuff so I am getting off that ferry and hopping on to your list. 🙂

    • David Siteman Garland

Great to have you as a subscriber Gilberto!

  • John Mck

Hey David fantastic interview again, just one question do you have the HD version of the recordings also,

    Thanks again,

    • David Siteman Garland

Hey John! Glad you enjoyed, sorry re: HD as I only have the version here.

  • Two kings of content…didn’t disappoint. Thanks, guys, for everything.

    • David Siteman Garland

      More than welcome

  • Great point about creating different types of content. My best post summed up a year of experience but writing stuff like that weekly is exhausting. Plus doing different kinds of work is a lot more fun. That’s why I love doing interviews. Getting to talk to a cool person and establish a connection is so valuable.

I like “meaningful stories + how to” books. It makes me remember the “how to” tips better. Awesome idea to interview your wife for the book!!!

    • David Siteman Garland

The mix of stories + advice = awesome

  • Mariah Elizabeth Hu

I really like when you say some people are deaf, some are blind, so we need to provide different type of platform and be everywhere to be discovered. Awesome takeaway.
I’m a big fan of both of you 🙂

By the way David, Happy Birthday to you. Keep rising to the top 🙂

  • paul
