Nothing against the fitness posts, but those are your real strength – loved it!!

    • David Siteman Garland

Thanks David – Working on re-organizing a bit soon so you can find the exact types of shows you want. Glad you enjoyed!

  • Guest

Just one comment – love what Jonathan shared. David, I have listened to many interviews, one suggestion I have is to listen to your interviews and note the ratio between how much you talk versus how much guests talk. Guest should be the one talking more in the interviews… in my opinion

    • David Siteman Garland

Yah, I agree. Sometimes I get a little too fired up. I do see them more of conversations, but I will try to work on that.

      • It’s funny, but in this video you talked about “audience suggestions” and “who to listen to”, ‘Guest’ and ‘Alexa’ both have contrasting suggestions 😀

To weigh in, I also enjoy the conversational tone, its refreshing, and it doesn’t need to be the “I’m-The-Guest-So-I-Talk-Show” 😉

        • David Siteman Garland

LOL there is definitely a 100% chance I won’t shut up 🙂 I prefer conversations as well.

    • I really like your commentary, David. I like the conversational format and think that it really works. I think that what you have to say definitely helps and guides the conversations.

    Good job, D!

    • David Siteman Garland

      Thanks, Joel!

  • I’m curious about the keyword testing Jonathan did with his “kick-ass” guides (about minute 28 in the video). I know a lot of people do this type of testing, but how easy is it to implement? So curious about the behind-the-scenes stats and how much site upkeep goes into maintaining a successful blog. Would love to hear what your future guests have to say about that. Do they hire someone to help them or figure it out themselves?

    • David Siteman Garland

A – Good question. Perhaps ask him as well on Twitter (@jonathanmead)

      • Hi Alexa! Great question!

Jon’s probably using some form of split testing, you can do this for free with WordPress and Google Website Optimizer Plugin, tutorial here:

        • Alexa Hart

Thanks Jason, I’ll check it out!

  • This was incredible. Jonathan Mead is one of my favourite bloggers, I really love the place he comes from, it’s very similar to my own vision.

I followed him off and on for years (and even bought one of his products twice lol :D), and I know his wisdom can help so many.

It didn’t come off as too high-brow, and I really enjoyed it, thanks David!

The interview with Jonathan was great. Just visited the Illuminated Mind website and I know this will be an inspiration in my life.

    • David Siteman Garland

      Great to hear that Guy!
