I think I have a man crush on today’s guest, Michael Zenga. And I’m not just talking about our mutual obsession with Curb Your Enthusiasm and Larry David. Michael is an incredibly talented Internet marketer/entrepreneur/mediapreneur who has built an absolute empire online and is amazing at sharing what he is learned.

In this interview, Michael not only shares his story but explains what has worked for him and how you can implement it (including a walk through of his business/sales model and the upcoming site he is launching, which trust me – that in and of itself is worth listening to).

Also, Michael surprised me in the interview and mentioned that if you are a viewer of the show and are an expert in something looking to turn that expertise into a product, Michael can help. Email him right here.

I use RISE partner Wistia for video hosting because they rock. .

About Today’s Guest, Michael Zenga:

Michael ZengaI feel like Michael brings such an interesting perspective to the Internet marketing/entrepreneurship/mediapreneurship game, proving there are MANY ways to be successful (and by the way, out of the hundreds of thousands of sellers on, Michael is in the top 100. How about them apples?). Meaning, he is more of a “behind-the-scenes” guys. You don’t see his face plastered on his sites and you don’t see him spending every waking moment on social media. There is a huge amount to be learned from his method with the hope that, of course, you find the methods that work for you and your goals/personality type.

While some “behind-the-scenes” Internet Marketers are super secretive about their sites and tactics, Michael is wide open and wanted to share the #1 converting site for him (feel free to steal his template, heh!): . Michael also mentioned as being a critical component of his websites.

  • Fantastic free content here. Michael gives so much detail away. Amazing.

    • David Siteman Garland

He rocks. Seriously. BTW: Asked Brian Clark your question (will be up next week!)

I enjoy most of the content that’s in these interviews. Unfortunately, most of these interviews are very annoying to listen because it feels like you are almost yelling at the interviewee.

Sorry to be so upfront, I value the content, but yelling annoys me to the point that I have ended many interviews abruptly.

    • David Siteman Garland

Hi Toni – My blunt opinion:

      1. Thanks for the feedback.
      2. That is my personality and the way I am. If you feel it is not a style that resonates with you, no worries at all as there are all kinds of folks who perhaps have a style that works more for you.

      Good luck!

  • David I just recently discovered your site and all the great interviews (yea I know, I just recently crawled out from a far away cave that had no internet) and I wanted to thank you for all the great info. Please tell me you are not 17? You look so young it makes me feel old and I’m thinking of going back to the cave. Thanks again!

    • David Siteman Garland

That’s awesome to hear, Erin. And, hah, add a 2 in front of the 7 and that is how old I am. Stay out of the cave 🙂

  • Great interview!  Very down to earth guy that didn’t hype the Internet Marketing world or make it seem sketchy.  I actually got answers to a few things I wondered about like some honest feedback about Adsense.  So many people these days have been hating on Google so it’s nice to know that it’s still working more than well for some.

I’ve played around with Clickbank and have entertained launching a couple info products there so it great to see an actual person doing well with Clickbank and not talking about something that work years ago but something that’s working now.

I also picked up some great inspiration about doing some other projects I just hadn’t pictured how the execution would go but with Michael’s description about the “jump higher” example it brought it home for me with some solid ideas.

BTW I’ve listened to about 100 of the 338 interviews you’ve given over the past couple years and I don’t think you yell 🙂

    • David Siteman Garland

LOL UNLESS I TYPE IN ALL CAPS!!! I agree, V. I love non-sketchy (but passionate) and so glad you got some much from it.

  • Good interview and interesting to see the the success with traditional media.

What I don’t like from interviews from a  lot of startup folks is the down play on design in graphics and web. With all the cheap labor pumping out work, what are you going to do when the market is saturated with “$100” work and you all look the same? Do you invest in better designers at that point?

Granted I’m bias owning and running a digital media design firm – but hey – someone has to stand up to it 😉
